On Tuesday, November 28th, 2022, the classes 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B and 8C went to the Orpheum in Graz to watch a play produced by Vienna´s English Theatre called “On the Brink”.
The play is a modern re-interpretation of a Greek drama by Sophocles called Antigone and takes climate change as its underlying topic. There are also other important subtopics like the different ways the older generations and the youth represent their opinion or the question of “Is everything black or white?”, or are there also shades of grey when it comes to the decisions made about the future of our planet? Also, the question of what is right and what is wrong and if it is possible to differentiate the right side and the wrong side from each other by simply the claims that were made, is utilized by this play.
This trip to the Orpheum was the perfect idea to enlighten young minds in an entertaining way about this current and serious problem that the world faces. Derived from my personal experience, I can also say that the play awoke discussions on this topic and has thus achieved its goal.
